Cinnamon Candy Apples or Pears
CINNAMON CANDY APPLES (You can also use PEARS)
1 package red hot cinnamon candies, about 1 cup
1 cup water
10-12 apples (or pears), pared, cored and quartered (use a firm apple (pear) or if cooked too long will be applesauce (pearsauce))
Cook candies and water in a heavy saucepan til candies are dissolved, stirring frequently as the candy will stick to the pan). Add apples (pears) to saucepan, cover and cook til apples (pears) are tender, check til fork tender).
This is a family favorite, especially at holidays, very pretty.
